FCRI was founded by Dr. Elizabeth Tan-Chiu in 2006 to continue her research interests in all medical aspects of breast and ovarian cancer treatment including anti-hormonal therapy, chemotherapy and "targeted therapy." At NSABP, Dr. Tan-Chiu excelled her research ambitions under the mentorship of Dr. Bernard Fisher, a pioneer in the biology and treatment of breast cancer. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications, and participated in clinical trials of virtually every aspect of breast cancer treatment including pioneering in Trastuzumab (Herceptin), Bevacizimab (Avastin) and Lapatanib (Tykerb) therapies.

FCRI is deeply committed to finding new and improved ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. We offer FDA approved clinical research trials giving our patients alternatives other than generic therapies usually offered by other general oncologists.

We encourage our patients and physicians to help conquer cancer by joining our network and play an integral part in the development of new and better therapies.

Clinical Studies

What is a clinical trial?

Clinical trials are research studies that help determine the effectiveness of a new drug or treatment. Each clinical trial is designed to answer specific scientific questions and to help find potentially better ways to prevent, diagnose or treat cancer.

Why are clinical trials important?

Clinical trials are a vital part of the process in finding new cancer treatments and ultimately a cure for cancer. Without these research studies, many of the advances and cures we see today in cancer detection, treatment and prevention would never have happened.
